Tyre Fitting

Fitting Tyres To Your Car

Buying new tyres for your car or dealing with an unexpected puncture can be frustrating, but getting them fitted shouldn’t be. Whether you need a fresh set of tyres or a quick fix for a flat, professional tyre fitting ensures safety and performance. While changing a tyre at home is possible, it’s always easier, safer, and much quicker to have experts handle it.If you’re in Kolkata and looking for reliable tyre fitting services, visiting a professional garage is your best bet. Skilled technicians ensure that tyres are mounted correctly, balanced properly, and aligned for a smooth driving experience. Incorrectly fitted tyres can lead to uneven wear, poor handling, and even safety risks on the road.

Step-By-Step Tyre Change Instructions

Step 1: Removing the tyres

Once at the garage, the technician will begin the tyre installation process. First, they will elevate the vehicle using a hydraulic lift, ensuring all four wheels are lifted off the ground.

Step 2: Taking off the wheel nuts

Next, the wheel nuts or lug nuts need to be removed. These are located beneath the hub cap and are typically round or hexagonal in shape. They can be loosened by applying pressure and turning counterclockwise.

Step 3: Replacing the tyres

After deflating the tyre by unscrewing and removing the valve insert, the old tyre can be detached from the wheel rim. The technician will typically use a specialized tool known as a tyre spreader, ensuring the removal is done safely without damaging the wheel or its components.

Step 4: Installing new tyres

Now that the old tyres have been removed, the technician will inspect the wheel rim for any signs of rust, damage, or wear. After ensuring the rim is in good condition, a new tyre—sized appropriately for the wheel—will be mounted. Vehicles can be equipped with either tubeless or tube-type tyres. While both have a similar structure, tubeless tyres lack an inner tube and instead rely on an airtight seal between the tyre and rim to retain air pressure.Once you’ve chosen between tubeless and tube-type tyres (with tubeless being the more common option), the technician will ensure the tread patterns are correctly aligned before securing the tyre onto the rim using a tyre spreader. Finally, with the help of a long extension hose for safety, the tyre will be inflated to the recommended air pressure.

Step 5: Final checks

The technician will inspect the old tyres for any indications of uneven tread wear, as issues like misaligned wheels or imbalance can lead to premature tyre deterioration. If necessary, adjustments will be made to the car’s axle alignment or wheel balance to ensure proper weight distribution and optimal performance.

Step 6: Bringing the vehicle down

Before installing the new tyres and wheel rims onto the vehicle, the mechanic will ensure they are properly mounted. For directional tyres, correct positioning is crucial to maximize performance. When aligned correctly, the arrow on the tyre’s sidewall should point in the direction of rotation.Once the tyre is secured onto the vehicle, the wheel nuts will be partially tightened by hand. After lowering the car back to the ground, the nuts will be fully secured using a specialized tool called a torque wrench. With everything in place, your car is ready to hit the road safely!
